ESK U14s playing for the title!
Submitted by jalcorn on Fri, 2010-05-21 15:08

We have just scheduled the makeup date for the U14 Boys vs. Midview game. The Date is Wednesday, May 26th at 7pm at Canterbury Elementary School.

What makes this special is that ESK and Midview are now the only teams that can win the AASL U14 B Division. While there's a game left to play before Wednesday, right now Midview is 3 points behind ESK in the standings. If they were to beat ESK, they would win the division on the first tie breaker, Head-to-Head Record.

The ESK u14 Boys team was moved to the West Side AASL League for this season to find stronger competition, and has compiled a 6-0-1 Record with 18 goals scored and 1 goal conceded. They are the only undefeated team in the league, the only setback being a 0-0 tie at Rocky River.

We're looking to leverage home field advantage by having a home field crowd! Please come out and cheer our U14 boys on to victory, and hopefully see the victory celebration as the boys clinch the Division title!

The Big U14 Showdown with Midview on May 11th had to be postponed due to field conditions. It appears that the game will be a winner-take-all affair for the championship if both teams earn max points next Sunday. We'll announce when it is scheduled, we'd love to have a crowd at Canterbury to cheer on our U14s to the AASL Championship!

Coach Krus' team, managed by the coaching team of Callanan and Alcorn, played a tough and disciplined game against a talented Shaker Hts team in U11d1A, and won at Shaker 5-1. All the goals were scored in the first half, and included a header off a ball bouncing in the box, a cross that deflected off a defender and in, and a screaming upper 90's shot to the far post by Charlie E. Thomas collected a hat trick in the game.

Kyle Gisser's U12s beat Twinsburg 2-1 by playing a determined defense on a week when the offense just wasn't clicking. The team simply refused to lose and it showed in their play.

Robbie Helfgott's U14 conceded their first goal of the AASL league season in a 4-1 win over North Royalton. The boys are now the only undefeated team in the AASL U14 Division B, and sit atop the standings at 3-0-1. They play 5-loss Fairview Park next Sunday, and then a showdown with 3-1-0 Midview in the game that may determine the championship next Tuesday night May 11th at Canterbury at 6:30.

The U9s beat Kenston on Sunday 3-2.

A rough week for the U13s resulted in a midweek loss against Chagrin Falls in a squeaker 3-2, then a 5-1 loss against Mentor on Sunday.

Tshepo's U11d1b boys lost to SEL 7-3, while the undermanned U10s lost to Mentor 2-0.
